Dear Parents,

Once again World Book Day is on the same Day as St David's Day.

We want to celebrate both, so we will let you know next week on which day we will be celebrating WBD.

Thanks for your patience!

Dear Parent

Headlice have been detected in the hair of some of our children in Year 3.  It is essential that you check, and if necessary, treat your child's hair immediately.

By working together we can drastically reduce this problem and I ask that you check your child's hair daily. Should you find head lice please inform the school and begin treatment immediately. Advice for parents can be found online by following the link below.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely

Richard Jones

10.01.2018

Dear Parents,

09.01.18:         Music lessons resume

04.02.18:         School Sunday Family Mass at 11.15am

09.02.18:         School closes for half term

19.02.18:         INSET School closed

20.02.18:         School reopens

12/13.03.18:    Parent’s Evening (Appointment letter to follow)

14-16.03.18:    Year 6 residential visit to Kingswood (with Miss Ford and Mr Jones)

21.03.18:         Easter Celebration Performance in Church 6pm

23.03.18:         School closes for Easter

09.04.18:         INSET school Closed

10.04.18:         School reopens for Summer Term

I will, of course inform you of any changes or additions in due course.

At the beginning of a new year I’m sure many of us have made some kind of resolution. During last term some aspects of our uniform policy started to ‘slip’ and we ask for your support in upholding the very high standards we have with regards to uniform and appearance. The main issue during last term was with some children wearing trainers or sports shoes with branded logos. We have worked very closely with Claire’s shoes in town to put together a range of affordable, good school shoes which conform with our uniform policy.

We expect all the children to wear full school uniform at all times.

During last term attendance dropped significantly and in some classes was as low as 91%. This is deemed unacceptable by the Governors, and indeed Estyn would judge us very harshly for such poor attendance. Children will undoubtedly fall ill and in schools once a bug takes hold it can lead to many absences. However we have a  group of pupils who have had many days off with various illnesses. We will be monitoring attendance closely this term and working closely with the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) to improve this very important issue.

Our termly Sunday School Family Mass has been set for Sunday the 04th of February at 11.15am. This is an important aspect of Catholic school life, many parishioners and visitors to the church loved the children’s contribution and without doubt it helps to strengthen links between the school, church and wider parish community.

Please note the date and time of our Easter Performance (21.03.18 at 6pm). Just as with our Christmas Performances, which are very popular, this is not optional and your child is expected to attend.

Finally, I would like to remind you that my door is always open and if you have any concerns please do come in and see me and I will do my utmost to help.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Richard Jones
